| Considering that environmental pollution is becoming ever increasingly serious, the Government must protect the environment more proactively and take important action by promoting pollution prevention and improving the national living environment. The Executive Yuan passed the Project for strengthening environmental protection in the territory of Taiwan at the 1627th meeting held on April 19, 1979. In order to meet the requirements of environmental protection awareness in modern society, the Taiwan Provincial Government agreed with 12 counties/cities, including Taoyuan County, to establish environmental protection bureaus in 1988. Fifty-two were included in the original organization of this Bureau, subordinate to four sections and four offices. Upon expansion of the organization in April 1997, there were eighty-seven employees included in the organization, subordinate to five sections and four offices. |
| Strategies and Prospect |
Given that the public's environmental protection awareness has been rising in recent years, their expectations for environmental quality becomes stricter day by day. This makes the environmental tasks become more difficult and complex. However, this Bureau, never neglecting the promotion of environmental protection, hopes to provide the citizens in the County with a living environment free from pollution. Therefore, This Bureau hereby reviews the defects of environmental protection affairs in hopes of solving the current hardship, and also takes insightful measures which are specified as follows:
| I. Perfect administrative organization, strengthen on-job training and discover employees potential: |

In order to successfully promote the environmental business, the environmental correction taskforce, information taskforce, pollution processing center and collection taskforce have been established to promote the various tasks. |

Establish an environmental quality correction taskforce to help with road cleaning and removal of advertising articles to improve the city's appearance. |

3. |
Establish a joint auditing taskforce to prevent the pollution from causing the waste of manpower and disturbance to citizens whenever the sections send personnel to conduct simultaneous raid actions. |

4. |
Performing night and holiday project audits to prevent the relevant suppliers from discharging waste articles after the public officerswork. |
| |
5. |
Hiring outstanding talents, rewarding/penalizing fairly, promoting the authority's efficiency, and infusing employees with a voluntary and positive working concept by virtue of bureau affairs and supervisors'meetings, strengthening the various anti-corruption actions and promotion of laws and regulations to establish incorruptible politics. |
